Last week, FCBF leadership attended a press conference at the Seaboard Marine Terminal at PortMiami where US Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao announced $58M in Port Infrastructure Development Grants for two Florida ports:

Other initiatives were also announced last week that will increase cargo capacity to our Florida ports:

Beyond infrastructure improvement initiatives, we saw the Federal Register notice confirming the lowered additional tariffs on certain goods from China that we were expecting. The US House of Representatives passed the Protecting America’s Food and Agriculture Act of 2019, which authorizes CBP to hire, train, and assign 240 new agricultural specialists, as well as more agriculture technicians and canine teams.

Speaking of agriculture, this week we have Chief Lynn Ramos from CBP sharing with us the latest on wood packaging material (WPM) regulations and penalties. Beyond bolstering your business from potential fines and penalties by understand the requirements for SWPM, attendees will earn 2 CES/CCS credits.

Coming up we also have in-bonds, CTPAT, Duty Drawback, EEI, FMC, and so much more. What else would you like to see from FCBF in the remainder of 2020? Let me know by replying to this email. I read every response.

Best,
